INDEPENDENCE - Vera M. Wattenbarger, age 89, left her family & friends to be with the Lord on June 5, 2011. She was born to Walter & Altha Brown in Independence, Oregon where she was raised on her family farm. She graduated from Independence High School in 1940. Vera Married Charles Gordon Wattenbarger in July of 1948 in Reno, Navada. They moved to Salem where they raised three children. She belonged to the American Legion and was a member of the South Salem Seniors. She enjoyed dancing, music, playing bingo, camping, traveling and just being with all her grandchildren. Vera is survived by her three children, Beverly Elmore of Independence, Charles Wattenbarger of Independence and Paul Wattenbarger of Salem; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren & 6 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Gordon and her granddaughter Sheri. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Arthitis Foundation. Services where held at Restlawn Funeral Home on Thursday, June 9th at 2:00 p.m. www.restlawnfh.com
