William Rose, Jr. was born in Portland, Oregon November 30th, 1930, to William & Mable Rose. He took his journey to his heavenly home on Oct. 30th, 2022. His wife, June of 66 years, parents, and brother Virgil, predeceased him. He is survived by his two daughters and spouses, Karen & Steve Smith, Linda & Gary Brous; three grandsons, Ryan & Aaron Smith and Keith Brous; a granddaughter, Amber Mohler and 8 great grandchildren. “Bill" as he was known most of his life, was the 2nd in the group of siblings called the "Siuslaw Seven". Those surviving with their spouse are; Bob & Shirley, Celia & Dan (Mueller), Larry & Pam, Lonnie & Janice and Gary & Sally.
The Rose family grew up in Florence and along the Siuslaw River, salmon fishing, farming, logging, boating, swimming and other crazy & wild things, some we don't want to mention. Except Bill's jumping from his runaway logging truck wreck, and his running away from and ditching the Florence policeman in his '48 Ford!
Bill loved the woods and logging, but after a few years he knew his calling was to minister the gospel of Jesus Christ. His nearly 50 years of ministry began as an associate pastor in a church in Woodland, Calif. His first church in Oregon was Woodburn, then Bandon, Sandy, McMinnville, and Silverton, and then Costa Mesa, California. Bill also served as an Executive Presbyter for the Oregon District Assemblies Of God.
Upon leaving church ministry, he and June lead a new “flock” by being the managers of Meadow Park Mobile Estates, a retirement community in Corvallis. For 18 years he enjoyed his work there, and especially hosting the Rose clans get togethers.
The impact of his life still goes on in the lives that were changed and blessed through his faithful, loving service. The family wishes to express our gratitude to the staff at Sweet Bye N Bye, Salem, who have cared for him for the last 3 years.
A service and reception were held at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Salem, Nov. 5th.If you’d like to make a donation in his memory an option is China Passage, PO Box 134, Springdale, PA 15143, a ministry near to his heart.
